Starters General English(Online Course)

课程结束后可望达到的英语等级

完成4部分的儿童初级英语课程后,学生的英语水平将达到A1级别。虽然没有权威机构为该课程进行等级认证,但本课程将帮助学生提升英语能力,备考剑桥KET考试(见下图第三柱底部)。学生还可以进入儿童中级英语课程(Movers General English)并升级到A1-A2级别。本课程适合7-9岁的学生。

完成英特海少儿英语初级课程以后,学生可望具有以下英文能力:

1)听与说

能听懂英文字母

能正确发出英文字母的读音

能听懂简单的指令和短语

能听懂简单的关于自身的问话,比如人名、年龄、喜爱的事物或者日常生活

能听懂某些非常简单的关于人物的描述,比如人名、性别、年龄、情绪、外表或者他们在做什么

能听懂某些非常简单对日常事物的描述,比如数量、颜色、大小或者地点

能听懂某些非常简单的简短对话,这些对话使用熟悉的问题和答案

能说出身边人或者事物的名称,比如家庭成员名称、动物名称、学校内或家庭内物品名称

能够非常基本地描述某些事物和动物,比如数量、颜色、大小或地点

能用简单的词语回答非常简单的问题,或者能用“yes/no”来回答

2)阅读与写作

能阅读和理解某些简单的句子,包括疑问句

能阅读简单语言写成的某些简短故事

能正确书写所有英文字母

能用英语字母写人名

能抄写单词、词组和短句

能正确地拼写出简单的单词

3)语法与固定搭配

名词: 名词的单数形式、复数形式、不规则复数、可数名词、不可数名词和人名

形容词:包括所有格形容词

Starters General English (Online Course)

Qualification

Completion of the 4-part Starters course would result in an A1 level of English – no official qualification from the course but this would be the first step towards equipping the student with language to sit the Cambridge KET exam (see below at the bottom of third column). The student will also be able to proceed onto the Movers course and advance to A1-A2 level. This course is designed for 7-9 years old pupils.

Course summary

The course introduces the basics of the English language, such as:

  • Food vocabulary
  • Job vocabulary

  • He‘s got / She’s got / He hasn’t got / She hasn’t got

This course has a very clear methodology with objectives for every lesson, and carefully staged activities to support pupils’ learning.

Every unit opens with a clear vocabulary and grammar presentation to introduce new language. The challenging syllabus encourages children to achieve more.

Skills Time! lessons provide a strong structured skills programme so listening, speaking and literacy skills are continually improving.

New differentiated writing portfolios in the Teacher’s Assessment and Resources help with mixed-ability classes and mean you can keep a record of your learners’ writing achievements.

Phonics

Phonics is straightforward and fun! Children learn to recognize and produce the sounds of English, the letters that form them and the words that contain them. This means each sound is taught in a way that’s easy to understand. The progression is specially written for non-native speakers and is particularly well structured for children who do not use the Roman alphabet.

Entry requirements

  • Beginner level of English (A0 level)
  • No previous language necessary (but any knowledge is beneficial)

Four 15-hour parts to complete entire course (60 hours in total)

Recommended Intensity of Study

  • Taking 3 classes per week, students will be able to complete this course in 7-8 months;
  • Taking 2 classes per week, students will be able to complete this course in 10-12 months.

Course Objectives

On completion of InterHigh Starters English Starters Course, young learners are expected to have English capabilities described as follows:

1) Listening and Speaking

CAN understand letters of the English alphabet when heard

CAN pronounce correctly letters of the English alphabet

CAN understand some simple spoken instructions given in short, simple phrases

CAN understand some simple spoken questions about self- such as name, age, favourite things or daily routine

CAN understand some very simple spoken descriptions of people – such as name, gender, age, mood, appearance or what they are doing

CAN understand some very simple spoken descriptions of everyday objects – such as how many, colour, size or location

CAN understand some very simple short conversations that use familiar questions and answers

CAN name some familiar people or things – such as family, animals, and school or household objects

CAN give very basic descriptions of some objects and animals – such as how many, colour, size or location

CAN respond to very simple questions with single words or a “yes/no” response

2) Reading and Writing

CAN read and understand some simple sentences, including questions

CAN follow some very short stories written in very simple language

CAN write the letters of the English alphabet

CAN write name using the English alphabet

CAN copy words, phrases and short sentences

CAN spell some very simple words correctly

3) Grammar and Structure

Nouns: Singular and plural including irregular plural forms, countable and uncountable and names

Adjectives: Including possessive adjectives

Determiners (a/an/the/ some/ these/ every)

Pronouns: Including demonstrative, personal, and possessive interrogative pronouns and “one”
